Sudam Sand Art Museum, which is located on the Puri-Konark marine drive, is a must-visit attraction for connoisseurs of art and especially, sand art. Established by internationally-acclaimed sand artist Sudam Pradhan, this rare sand art museum is home to 3D sand art models of various themes and styles. Tourists can witness spectacular sand sculptures of historical figures, monuments, Hindu gods and even popular animated characters at the museum.
Some of the prominent sculptures on display at the museum that are quite hit among the visitors include the colorful sand art of Lord Jagannath at the entrance; Konark Sun Temple, Taj Mahal, Lord Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Captain America, Spider Man, Hulk, dolphin and jungle beauty on elephant. Some of these sculptures are about 15-20 feet in height and are standing without any external support.
This environment-friendly museum has no wastage and the sand is reused to change the sculptures at regular intervals; they are rolled out keeping in mind the latest trends.
History of Sudam Sand Art Museum Puri
The museum was inaugurated on 4th February 2018 by the then Minister of Revenue & Disaster Management, Govt. of Odisha, Maheswar Mohanty and other notable office bearers of the state government.

The museum is spread over an area of 5000 sq ft and has a temporary structure. A notable thing to notice at the museum is that a number of plants have been kept inside to create a sense of greenery. Each of the sculptures, which are regularly changed, is made using sand, water and a bit of glue. These are well protected by proper shades.

There is an entry fee of Rs 30 per person to visit the Sudam Sand Art Museum. This place remains open on all days of the week from 7 am to 8:30 pm.
How to reach Sudam Sand Art Museum Puri
Sudam Sand Art Museum is located approximately at a distance of about 4.9 km from the Puri Railway Station. On the other hand, it is about 5 km away from the Puri Bus Stand. Private taxis, auto rickshaws and battery-operated rickshaws can be availed easily from the railway station and the bus stand to reach the museum within a few minutes.
Puri does not have an airport currently. Hence, tourists planning to reach Puri by flight need to book their tickets till the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. The airport is around 60 km away from Puri. A private taxi from the list of top car rental companies in Bhubaneswar can be hired from the airport till here. Alternatively, tourists can board any train leaving for Puri from the Bhubaneswar Railway Station or take a bus from the bus stand, located close to the railway station.
